Sustainably Grown Low Bush Blueberries

and Beautiful Land at

The Benson Place

182 Flagg Hill Road in Heath MA

Friends and Customers:

Unfortunately, we had a reduced harvest this season due to springtime challenges with pollination and insects. Therefore we're no longer open for PYO nor making commitments to fill orders for our own pre-picked fruit.

We will purchase low bush blueberries from Maine to make up for as much of the short fall as possible. We are currently making plans with those of you whose previous orders or PYO times were cancelled as well as with anyone we are aware of who signed onto our waiting list by August 9, 2011.

If you are not currently on the waiting list and are interested in Maine berries, you are welcome to send us your email address and phone number. We will contact you if we have room to consider your request.

Thank you for your patience during this year of scarcity. We appreciate the cooperation of those who utilized our online order form and apologize to those of you who may have experienced communication challenges with us. It is not easy to estimate the yield of 22 acres of dispersed blueberries until we get well into the actual harvest of them. But we will continue to work to fine tune our ability to coordinate the growing demand for this healthy fruit, the loyalty of our long time customers, and the capacity of the land.

As many of you know, together we have all have managed to preserve over 50 acres here for agriculture, conservation, and ongoing public access. The Commonwealth of MA and the Franklin Land Trust (FLT) currently hold easements on the land so it can be used for the benefit of all for generations. Your financial support of FLT is always welcomed, and any contribution that mentions the Benson Place will be used for specific trail and conservation related needs to this farm and neighboring land. Visit www.franklinlandtrust.org for more information.

Artist Robert Strong Woodward owned this property before it became a blueberry farm, and you may view his wonderful work and learn more about his history at www.robertstrongwoodward.com.

Thank you -
